Introduction to Architectural Ceramics: Gothic
This is the first half of a two-part course objective in which you will explore the three-dimensional form of period building architecture through clay sculpture. Students will learn about several Gothic building examples and the historical period architecture details by creating Gothic windows, tracery, buttresses, crenellation and more in clay. Then you will make molds of these original designs so that multiples can be created. In January, we’ll launch Part 2: Advanced Architectural Ceramics: Gothic—a 10-week course to construct a building facade using all of the design elements created over the fall course.
