Columbia’s expert pediatric specialists will discuss symptoms to look out for, common questions from parents, current treatment options, possible long-term effects and the disease’s similarities to Kawasaki disease, and the latest research on MIS-C.

Bios:
Nazreen Jamal, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in Emergency Medicine at Columbia University.   She is the Associate Fellowship Director and Assistant Director of Quality for Pediatrics in Emergency Medicine. She has been involved in developing the evaluation guidelines for pediatric patients presenting to the Pediatric Emergency Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital with possible MIS-C and is working with the NYC collaborative to better understand this emerging disease across the city. She has been involved in developing the evaluation guidelines for pediatric patients presenting to the Pediatric Emergency Department with possible MIS-C and is working with the NYC collaborative to better understand this emerging disease across the city.  She will discuss signs and symptoms that might prompt evaluation in the Emergency Department, and what to expect in the ED.

Steve Caddle, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University.  He sees patients and teaches in primary care at the Ambulatory Care Network of NewYork-Presbyterian.  He also works as PEM Affiliate/Voluntary Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.His academic interests include quality improvement and emerging infectious diseases.  He has also worked nationally with the American Academy of Pediatrics around telementoring during the Zika outbreak and now for COVID-19.

Rachel Weller, MD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Columbia University. She is a member of the Pediatric Cardiology Inpatient/Outpatient MIS-C consult team at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. She is also the Director of Pediatric Cardiology Fellows Clinic at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. Her primary office location is Columbia Pediatric Specialists 21 West 86 street where she sees children referred for a Pediatric Cardiology consultation.

This program will take place online over Zoom. Please register in advance and the Zoom link and password will be emailed to you 30 minutes before the program begins.
