Have you heard of Supported Decision Making (SDM)? SDM is an alternative to guardianship for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they strive for more independent and self-determined lives. Come and meet the team from the Supported Decision-Making New York pilot project (SDMNY) and learn how it recognizes that people with I/DD may need different kinds of supports, but with appropriate assistance they can learn to make their own good and healthy decisions.

The afternoon will consist of two concurrent sessions: a presentation for caregivers and family members to learn how the SDMNY trained facilitation process works, and workshop on decision making for individuals with I/DD.

All participants must have an intake to join Adaptations programs; Please contact Alex LoPinto at for more information about an intake.
