THE SHABBAT SHOP
The Shabbat Shop, a social enterprise run by the young adults from our Adaptations program, is open in the lobby of the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan on Thursdays from 8:30 am-6:30 pm and Fridays from 8:30 am-5 pm. All proceeds from the shop help to support the Jack and Shirley Silver Center for Special Needs at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan. Stop by to view the full line of products, including seasonal holiday items and Judaica gifts for people of all ages.
Meet our staff
"The Shabbat Shop helps me build up my confidence to talk to all kinds of people and it makes me feel very welcome. I like the people at the JCC, they are very friendly. I've learned about the Jewish holidays and it makes me feel good to learn about different cultures even though we are different religions. You gave me a chance to work like everyone else does."
"Working at the Shabbat Shop gave me the confidence to pursue other endeavors. Because I was valued, I felt comfortable expressing my ideas about how to make the shop even better than it was. Some of my ideas were used and I took pride in that."
"The reason I like working at the Shabbat Shop is because of the people. They are friendly and nice to work with. It is a place where people can learn about Judaism and Jewish products and discuss their memories about the items we sell."
SHABBAT SHOP @ THE MOVIES
The Shabbat Shop is proud to partner with the Carole Zabar Center for Film at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan to present a concessions stand with popcorn, pretzels, chocolate, water, and more. The Shabbat Shop is staffed by Adaptations participants. Proceeds from the Shabbat Shop benefit programming at the Jack and Shirley Silver Center for Special Needs
