Meditation and mindfulness are time-tested techniques and practices that can help us manage the stresses of the modern world and allow us to really appreciate what life has to offer.

From our daily facilitated meditation sessions to special evenings with world-renowned meditation teachers and experts in the field, Makom offers a wonderful array of courses and events. So whether you are a beginner interested in learning more about meditation and how to begin a practice or an experienced meditator looking for special workshops or urban retreats, you can find it all at Makom.

Mindfulness

A leader in the area of mindfulness meditation, Makom at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan also offers the well-known program Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) several times a year and related classes in mindfulness for parents, families with special needs, writers and artists, and more.

Jewish Spirituality

Additionally, we explore Jewish spiritual practice and illuminate various aspects of Jewish mysticism. Through workshops and retreats centered on Jewish contemplative practice, monthly evenings of Jewish chant, opportunity to study the ethical practice of mussar, and more, Makom provides an oasis for Jewish spirituality in the midst of the noise of the city.

Throughout the year we welcome you to join us for our annual Day of Kabbalah in partnership with the Carlebach Shul, events focused on neo-Chassidism, days of learning centered on the deep teachings of Chassidic masters, and concerts with mystical themes. Whatever your Jewish spirit needs to grow, you can find it at Makom.
